Boston is a mega-sports
city, with professional basketball, baseball,
football and hockey. Yet one of the nations most
famous amateur events also takes place in and
around this city, the Boston Marathon. College
football at Boston College and Harvard are also
draws in this dynamic arena of sports along with
other college sporting events including basketball
and the Beanpot Hockey Tournament.

The nations premiere running event, the
Boston Marathon is over a hundred years strong
with thousands of runners participating and a
million spectators to cheer them on. The first
running began as a Patriots Day event in
April of 1897 and since then, the 26. 2 mile
race has really made history with the best in
the world running along side first-timers.

famed Boston Celtics! The team has garnered its
share of NBA triumphs and the future is a bright

Boston College Eagles

Known for a great football program on the national
level, the Eagles play their home games at the
Alumni Stadium. The school also has a strong
basketball program and has in the past hosted

Boston Red Sox

Fenway Park is one of the oldest baseball parks
in continuous use in this country and in all
that time, it has been the home of the Boston
Red Sox. Some day in the not so distant future
the intimidating Green Monster of a left field
wall will make way for a newer stadium. The fates

2004 World Series Championship and the consummate
loyalty expressed by the fans of Beantowns
Sox keeps hopes alive for the team winning another
World Series in the near future.

Head of the Charles Regatta

In October Cambridge and the Charles River play
host to the worlds largest rowing competition
with thousands of participants of all ages and
hundreds of thousand viewers lined up across
the bridges and along three miles of river bank
towards Brighton.
Naismith Memorial Basketball
